Bio: Rick Morris

Rick Morris, S&H PresidentFrederick “Rick” Morris is President of Smith & Harroff, Inc. (S&H) and is involved in the range of strategic and creative services the agency provides to its clients.  Since joining S&H in 1977, he has directed campaigns that have earned a Gold Mercury Award, several Silver Mercury Awards, the Communicator Awards’ “Audio Competition,” among others.

Morris has had primary responsibility for a number of the firm’s largest communications and public affairs projects, including the Nuclear Energy Institute, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Wheelabrator Technologies, Alcan Aluminum Corporation and the Consumer Aerosol Products Council.

For several years, Morris managed the day-to-day operation of one of the nuclear power industry’s most successful national speakers bureaus. He was selected by Westinghouse to join a team of instructors providing communications and media training to utility executives in the U.S. and England. Morris is often called upon to provide training for clients worldwide. He has been invited to speak on the subject of effective communications and media relations by various organizations including addressing industry groups at their annual conventions.

Having served as Account Supervisor for many of Smith & Harroff’s clients, Morris was promoted to Vice President and Chief of Staff in 1985. In this newly created position, he provided account management to a select group of clients and overall management supervision of agency personnel and client accounts. In 1991, Morris became one of the firm’s Partners.

Morris is a native of Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from George Washington University in 1974 with a B.A. in Urban Studies. In 1977, he earned his Master of Regional Planning (MRP) degree from the University of Massachusetts. With his wife and sons Benjamin and David, Morris resides in Arlington, Virginia.
